Sale of Israeli businesses was not a political move

In reply to Daniel Teegan’s “We must call upon our government to end arms trade with Israel “ (Irish Examiner, Letters April 4), calling G4S’s decision to sell off its Israel business a victory for the Israel haters in BDS is more than a little disingenuous.

Sale of Israeli businesses was not a political move

G4S said the decision to sell its business in Israel was “entirely” for commercial reasons. The sale comes as part of a portfolio review that will see the sale of some 60 other businesses as well.

Given that these include UK and US services it is hard to accept some concern for the Palestinians was part of the reason for divestment.
