Because it was enacted in the name of the Most Holy Trinity and acknowledges “all our obligations to our Divine Lord Jesus Christ,” the Constitution upholds the union of man and woman, with its potential for the begetting of children, as “the institution of marriage (civil or religious), on which the family is founded.”

On June 4, 1919, HM Submarine L55 sank in the Baltic Sea. L55 had been targeting two Bolshevik warships. It is unclear whether the submarine was sunk by Bolshevik gunfire or from straying into a British-laid minefield.
