I have reviewed several Imou cameras over the last year, and the latest one to cross my desk is the new Imou Bullet 3 smart camera. Designed to meet the demands of modern homeowners, this camera offers a range of advanced features, including full-colour night vision and AI-powered detection.

The Bullet 3 series comes in two-pixel options—2K (3MP) and 3K (5MP)—delivering high-resolution images for enhanced clarity. The cameras have adjustable night vision modes, including full-colour and infrared modes. I received the 2K version for this review. Apart from the resolution, both cameras share the same features and hardware, including an IP67 water resistance rating.
One of the Bullet 3's standout features is its AI-powered detection capabilities. Using Imou Sense precision AI technology, the camera can accurately detect humans and vehicles in real time. Imou says it can detect in as little as 0.02 seconds, and my testing gives me no reason to think differently. The benefit of smart technology is that it guarantees fewer false alarms.
Various adjustable security features, including built-in sirens, deter potential burglars, and customisable detection zones enable owners to concentrate on particular regions of their homes. Two-way talk features also make communicating with family members or guests easy and convenient.

Integrating Wi-Fi 6 connectivity in the Bullet 3 ensures significantly faster data transfer rates than previous generations. With higher throughput and improved efficiency, you get smoother streaming and quicker access to surveillance footage. It also improves wall penetration capabilities, allowing the Bullet 3 to maintain a strong and stable connection even through obstacles such as walls and partitions.
Wi-Fi 6 supports higher device densities, enabling efficiency in environments with multiple connected devices. However, all of these Wi-Fi 6 benefits are contingent on using a router that supports Wi-Fi 6. Naturally, all Wi-Fi 5 modems are compatible with the Bullet 3, which is backwards compatible.

The Bullet 3 also features Power Over Ethernet (PoE) connectivity, which means it can receive power and data through a single Ethernet cable, ensuring a stable and reliable power supply. This eliminates the need for separate power cables, reducing potential points of failure. This is how I set up the Bullet 3 for testing, and it only took seconds to add it to the Imou app. However, PoE requires a network switch that supports it, so keep that in mind.
The Bullet 3 offers three storage options: cloud storage, SD card, or Network Video Recorder (NVR). Cloud storage protects encrypted data, ensuring footage remains secure even during camera theft. Alternatively, you can opt for local storage using an SD card, which supports capacities up to 256GB. This allows for continuous video recording and easy access to footage when needed.
The Imou Bullet 3 offers impressive features designed to enhance home security. From crystal-clear imaging to AI-powered detection and customisable security settings, these cameras provide reliable protection for every home.
