The Fitbit Charge 6 is a comprehensive health and fitness band with advanced sensors and smart connectivity features for those who want a small and lightweight fitness band.

The Charge 6 is a fitness band rather than a smartwatch, catering to those who prefer a sleeker, more budget-friendly option than more expensive traditional smartwatches. Despite its compact design, it incorporates cutting-edge sensors and technologies, all packed into a band that weighs a mere 30g, including the wrist strap.
The lightweight construction and compact size ensure a comfortable wearing experience, especially for those with small wrists.
If you're not fond of silicone straps, and I experienced skin irritation from wearing it around the clock for a month, there are plenty of alternative straps to choose from in diverse styles and materials.

Featuring a 1.04-inch OLED screen akin to its predecessor, the Charge 6 offers ample display space for relaying notifications effectively.
The device offers an always-on display option, which may slightly decrease the seven-day battery life, but it's a desirable feature.
The button on the Charge 6 operates via touch sensitivity. To activate it effectively, you must simultaneously squeeze both sides of the device, as each side features a touch-sensitive area.
The Charge 6 is equipped with a water resistance rating of 50 meters, allowing you to use it confidently for swimming activities.

The Charge 6 has heart rate tracking capabilities, which Fitbit says are their most precise measurements yet. Thanks to a machine learning algorithm co-developed with the Google Pixel Watch technology, heart rate tracking during intense workouts like HIIT, spinning, and rowing is now up to 60% more accurate. This advancement should give users added confidence in their health data, providing precise insights into calorie burn, active zone minutes, daily readiness score, and sleep score.

You can still conveniently access your heart rhythm for atrial fibrillation directly on your wrist using the ECG app and receive notifications for high and low heart rates, helping you stay informed and in control of your heartbeat when necessary.

The Charge 6's connectivity makes it compatible with workout applications and gym equipment. The tracker securely pairs with popular exercise machines from leading brands like NordicTrack, Peloton, Concept2, and Tonal via encrypted Bluetooth technology.
You can also connect to your favourite fitness apps on Android and iOS devices, including Peloton, to access live heart rate data.

With over 40 exercise modes, including 20 new options like HIIT, strength training, and snowboarding, you now have many choices to track and personalise your workouts.
The built-in GPS feature eliminates the need for a smartphone during outdoor activities, providing accurate distance tracking directly from the Charge 6.

In a first for Fitbit devices, the Charge 6 introduces integrated Google Maps and Google Wallet functionalities. You can use the watch for turn-by-turn navigation and Google Pay for contactless payments. I’m a big fan of using my watch for payments, and the Charge 6 works great and makes it easy to access your card with a simple double squeeze.

The device offers YouTube Music controls for added motivation, allowing users to manage their playlists and skip tracks effortlessly during workouts. This is great if you’re using YouTube Music but not so great if you use any other service like Spotify, Apple Music or Tidal.
It’s also good to see accessibility features, like zoom + magnification, enhancing readability and usability.
Beyond fitness tracking, the Charge 6 offers health and wellness features, including sleep score assessment, stress management tools, and access to vital health metrics like blood oxygen saturation and heart rate variability.
Fitbit Premium subscribers can access thousands of workout and mindfulness sessions and personalised insights like the daily readiness score, helping users optimise their fitness routines and overall well-being.
The Charge 6 comes with a six-month subscription to Fitbit Premium. Following this trial period, the subscription costs €8.99 per month or €79.99 annually, but it’s optional and not essential for casual users.
The Fitbit Charge 6 presents a compelling option for health and fitness enthusiasts seeking a lightweight, feature-packed band. Its compact design and advanced sensors make it comfortable for everyday wear, especially for those with smaller wrists. The addition of an always-on display and integrated Google tools enhances its utility.
While the integrated Google features are convenient, they may not appeal to users invested in other music streaming services. Overall, the Charge 6 offers comprehensive health insights and fitness tracking capabilities, with Fitbit Premium integration adding further value for those seeking personalised wellness guidance.
