Grocery price inflation increases again, putting further pressure on households

In the 12 weeks leading up to September 7, annual grocery price inflation stood at 6.3%, up from the 5.4% compared to the previous 12-week period.

Irish grocery price inflation increased significantly in the weeks leading up to the start of September, putting further strain on hard-pressed households just as the schools were set to resume following the summer break, new data shows.

The increasing cost of groceries comes on the back of a number of electricity price hikes in recent weeks. SSE Airtricity, Bord Gáis Energy, Pinergy, Flogas, and Energia have all announced their intention of increasing their prices heading into the winter season.
