The Banking & Payments Federation Ireland report reveals that more than half of all contactless payments are now made using mobile wallets such as Apple Pay or Google Pay, rather than cards

Consumers are now tapping their cards, watches or phones almost once every day with an average spend each time of €17.98.

The number of consumers using their phone or watch to pay for goods at the till continues to rise, with more than half of all contactless payments now using such methods.

It comes as the use of cash to pay for goods and services continues to decline.
