ISEQ up at close

The ISEQ index of Irish shares closed up 21.32 points to 2,697.05, a rise of 0.80%.

Among the risers, CRH was up 64c to €13.69; Providence Resources added 45c to €3.30; Smurfit Kappa added 12c to €7.80 and Glanbia was up 5c to €3.35.

On the fallers' board, Kerry Group closed down 29c to €29.54; DCC slipped 16c to €21.09; Elan Corp shed 13c to €4.12 and FBD was down 11c to €5.66.

Banking stocks were mixed, with AIB up 2c to €0.41, Bank of Ireland down 1c to €0.40 and Irish Life & Permanent unchanged at €0.87.
