ISEQ all but static

There was little movement on the ISEQ index of Irish shares today as the market held steady following yesterday's plunge of almost 4%.

The overall index closed up just 0.99 points or 0.03% to 2,878.67.

Among few notable risers, CRH added 42c to €17.14; Grafton Group was up 7c to €2.92; Glanbia climbed 6c to €3.00 and Elan Corp was up 4c to €3.74.

On the fallers' board, Independent News and Media shed 5c or 6.15% to €0.73; Smurfit Kappa slipped 29c to €6.63; Kerry Group was down 55c to €22.70; Tullow Oil shed 30c to €12.35; Paddy Power was down 33c to €25.42; DCC fell 24c to €18.56 and Kingspan was down 5c to €6.05.

Among financial stocks, AIB was down 2c to €0.88 and Bank of Ireland slipped 2c to €0.67, while Irish Life & Permanent added 1c to €1.52.
