New chief for ICAI

Pat Costello has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland (ICAI).

Pat Costello has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland (ICAI).

Costello, who has been Chief Executive of the Irish Taxation Institute since 1993 will take up his new position on September 1, replacing Brian Walsh, who retires later this year.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland is Ireland's largest and oldest accounting body, with over 13,700 members, and was established by royal charter in 1888.

Costello said today: "I am looking forward to working with the Council of ICAI to guide the institute into a new and exciting era."

Tribute was paid to outgoing CEO Brian Walsh.
