Psychiatric evaluation possible at Pistorius trial
The Oscar Pistorius murder trial is waiting to hear whether the athlete will have to undergo further psychiatric evaluation.
The prosecution made the application last night to assess how his diagnosis of generalised anxiety disorder affected his actions on the night he killed Reeva Steenkamp.
The athlete denies murder, saying he mistook his girlfriend for an intruder.
"There are a whole host of symptoms that are ongoing in an anxiety disorder," said psychiatrist Dr Merryl Vorster, giving evidence.
"Yes, everybody has something they worry about, but people with an anxiety disorder are unable to set their worries aside - they think about them constantly."
