A Gulf Air Boeing-332 en route from London made an emergency landing in north-western Iran this morning after its cockpit reported a passenger’s heart failure, the official Islamic Republic News Agency reported.

The plane was en route from London to Muscat, Oman, when the pilot asked permission for the emergency landing in the airport of Tabriz, 683 miles north-west of the capital, Tehran.

The report did not say how many passengers or crew members were on board.

The sick passenger, an Indian national, was taken to a local hospital. There were no further details available on the person’s age, gender or present condition.

The Gulf Air flight was expected to leave for Muscat later today after spending several hours in Iran and refuelling, the agency reported.

The governments of Bahrain, Oman and Abu Dhabi own Gulf Air.
