No amnesty for retreating foreign Taliban fighters
The northern Afghan city of Kunduz has been surrendered by the Taliban.
In an agreement with the Northern Alliance, the Taliban has agreed to surrender all fighters, Afghans and foreigners, in Kunduz by Sunday.
The surrender deal will allow Taliban fighters to return to their homes but the foreigners - Pakistanis, Arabs and Chechens loyal to Osama bin Laden - will be put on trial, it was reported.
Taliban soldiers are said to be still pulling out of Kunduz, their last stronghold in northern Afghanistan.
A senior Northern Alliance commander said 5,000 alliance troops will escort the vanquished fighters to Mazar-e Sharif, about five hours away, where they will be screened.
The Taliban soldiers will then be granted an amnesty but the foreigners held for trial.
