Welbeck to have Black Cats medical

Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck will undergo a medical at Sunderland today with a view to joining the Black Cats on a season-long loan.

Welbeck, 19, has come through the ranks at Old Trafford and manager Alex Ferguson is keen to send him out on loan to gain more first-team experience.

And with Sunderland yesterday confirming the sale of Kenwyne Jones to Stoke for £8m, Welbeck could get the chance to establish himself alongside Darren Bent.
