Everton offer Rooney new deal
Everton today confirmed they have offered 18-year-old England striker Wayne Rooney a new five-year deal.
Rooney has become one of the hottest properties in world football after scoring four goals in Euro 2004.
His consistently excellent displays in Portugal attracted the attention of leading clubs at home and abroad.
But Everton are keen to retain the services of a player who has come through the ranks.
Manager David Moyes believes Rooney can lead the charge up the table after the club suffered a poor season.
Rooney, who is currently recovering from a broken bone in his right foot sustained during the defeat by Portugal, has been linked with Manchester United and Real Madrid after Chelsea claimed they were not interested.
