Medical staff to assess Keane’s knee injury

The Republic of Ireland's medical staff are due to assess Roy Keane’s knee injury today to see if he can play any part in tomorrow night’s friendly game against Romania at Lansdowne Road.

The Manchester United captain linked up with the Irish squad yesterday after receiving treatment on the injury at Old Trafford.

However, it is unclear if he will be able to make his international comeback in tomorrow night’s game.

Keane hasn’t played for Ireland since his infamous bust-up with former manager Mick McCarthy ahead of the 2002 World Cup finals.
