Rangers suffer Rae injury blow

Rangers have suffered a fresh blow with Gavin Rae set to miss the start of next season with a knee injury.

The 26-year-old was carried off in the 3-3 draw at Tannadice and specialists in Glasgow and London confirmed his worst fears that he has stretched his cruciate ligament.

Both medical experts believe that the injury will heal without the need for surgery which Rae wants to avoid.

But it is a huge blow for the former Dundee midfielder, who will undergo further scans in six weeks to assess the damage which looks likely to sideline him for the new season.

“Gavin is absolutely gutted,” said McLeish. “He is devastated by the news. It looks like we could be without him for the start of the new campaign.”
