PARAGUAY stunned visitors Brazil in Asuncion in their South American World Cup qualifier last night.

Paraguay, who lead the standings in the South American section, took the lead after 26 minutes through Blackburn’s Roque Santa Cruz.

On 49 minutes Salvador Cabanas doubled the lead for Paraguay.

The result means Paraguay lead the standings, Argentina are second, with Colombia third and Brazil back in fourth in the 10-nation section.

The top four teams automatically qualify for the 2010 World Cup, with the fifth-placed team entering a play-off.
