The price is right for Cole at Highbury

ASHLEY COLE, who doubted whether he could ever play for Arsenal again in the aftermath of last month’s ‘tapping-up’ inquiry, yesterday signed a one-year contract extension.

The 24-year-old’s future had been in doubt after being fined by the Premier League for making an illegal approach to Chelsea, but the left-back has now been confirmed as part of the Gunners’ plans.

“Everyone at Arsenal is looking forward to Ashley being an integral part of the club’s challenge for honours in the forthcoming seasons,” read a statement on the club’s official website, www.arsenal.com.
