Gardaí appeal after pedestrian dies in hit-and-run incident near Listowel

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a van in a hit-and-run collision in Co Kerry in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The collision happened shortly after 3am on the N69 near Dromin Upper, Listowel.

The van failed to remain at the scene and the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Coroner has been notified.

The N69 between Cahirdown Roundabout in Listowel, on the main Tarbert Road, and the townland of Derry is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Local diversions are in place.

Garda appeal 

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the collision to come forward.

Anyone who was travelling on the N69 near Dromin Upper between 2.30am and 4am on Saturday and may have camera footage of the area is asked to contact gardaí.

This includes motorists with dashcam footage or anyone who may have mobile phone recordings.
