Fairytale ended in theatre of dreams

ALEX FERGUSON paid tribute to Burton’s positive attitude as the non-leaguers’ FA Cup adventure reached its conclusion at Old Trafford last night.

The Brewers suffered a 5-0 defeat in their replay with Manchester United, Louis Saha’s opener ensuring there was never any likelihood of the Conference outfit completing the biggest shock in the competition’s history.

But while Ferguson is able to look forward to a fourth-round visit to Wolves on January 29, he refused to take any of the gloss off Burton’s night - claiming Nigel Clough’s men had approached their task with a more engaging attitude than many Barclays Premiership clubs.
