Fit-again Zebo all set to face Glasgow
Zebo hobbled out of the dismal 19-17 home defeat to Ulster on Saturday with an ankle knock but it isn’t serious enough to keep him out of the team which will named tomorrow at lunchtime.
“Zeeb’s had a bit of an ankle issue but he’s okay,” Penney said yesterday. “We’re pretty much just the same, a stable squad. Denis Hurley’s got a bit of an Achilles’ (tendon injury) and he’s definitely out.”
Lock Donnacha Ryan’s will see a specialist over his season-ending foot injury while prop Stephen Archer’s neck issues have ruled him out of any Ireland summer tours.
Scrum-half Cathal Sheridan is still recovering from a broken bone in the arm but if Munster become the first side to win an away Celtic League semi-final, he has a chance of making the final, with Penney saying: “He’s potentially available, down the track. He’s right on the cusp of being available.”
Penney also backed fellow Canterbury man Tyler Bleyendaal to make a significant impact when the 23-year-old fly-half/centre joins from the Crusaders for next season.
“I coached him at Canterbury a lot,” Penney said of New Zealand’s 2010 U20 world championship-winning captain. “He’s a great young man. He’s got a lot of talent and he’s a good acquisition.”
