St Helens star out after brush with injury

YOU’D think a rugby league forward would be one of the hardest sportsmen in the business but St Helens will be without Jon Wilkin for almost a month after he was injured while sweeping.

The 27-year-old was set to return from a calf injury suffered during training with England earlier this month when he sustained the injury.

“He was sweeping up and the broom snapped and ripped through his hand,” said Saints coach Royce Simmons.

“He did not damage any tendon but he did damage a lot of nerves so will have to play with it heavily strapped. He’s gone for another three to four weeks.”
