Unlucky break for Baker

George Baker faces a spell on the sidelines after breaking an arm in a fall at Wolverhampton last night.

The jockey may need surgery after suffering the injury when his mount, Flowing Cape, broke a leg and came down in the final furlong of a claimer over an extended mile.

Baker was taken to hospital, but allowed home later.

ā€œHe’s broken his humerus – the bone right at the top of his arm by the shoulder joint,ā€ confirmed Baker’s agent Guy Jewell.

ā€œIt’s very swollen at the moment. When it goes down they will probably have it operated on in a couple of days.

ā€œNobody has mentioned any time schedule or anything. He’s at home, but his arm is very swollen and bruised at the moment.

ā€œWhen the swelling has gone down I imagine they will assess it again and go from there.ā€
