Alamshar wins at Ascot

Alamshar ran out a brilliant winner of the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes at Ascot today.

The Irish Derby hero (13-2), trained by John Oxx and ridden by Meath's Johnny Murtagh, went clear turning into the straight, having tracked pacemaker Izdiham from the start.

Sulamani (9-2) tried hard to get to him in the final furlong and a half but could not reel him in.

Epsom Derby winner Kris Kin (7-2) was third.
