Then at Punchestown nine days ago, he returned to fences to record a smooth success over Holly Tree at Punchestown.
The ten-year-old stays well, has a good turn of foot and, with the conditions of this contest made to suit, will prove hard to beat.
The handicapper appears to have given Dreamy Gent a real chance in the Cork Handicap Chase and Jessica Harrington’s gelding is fancied to run a big race, in an open contest.
The ground won’t be a problem and he arrives on the back of finishing fourth behind Deutschland at Punchestown.
One of his main rivals now, Salford City (rec. 3lbs), was a place and two lengths in front of the selection and you would have to think that at least those positions will now be reversed!
Edward O’Grady’s River Canon has plenty in hand at the weights, in the Navigation Road Hurdle, and should be too strong for Chateau d’Eau, who is currently struggling to find his best form.
At Navan tonight, Jim Bolger’s Seachantach can take the Come Racing Here Again Next Friday Handicap.
He’s on the upgrade and will revel in the surface, having finished a creditable third, on heavy ground, behind Whiteball Wonder at the Curragh last time.
