Sorensen crashes out in Germany as King receives Davis Cup call-

LOUK SORENSEN was brought back down to earth yesterday following his Australian Open heroics.

The Irish player, who won three matches in qualifying, and one in the main draw in the Melbourne Park event, crashed out in the opening round of the ATP Challenger Tour tournament in Heilbronn, Germany.

World No 284 Sorensen, who received a wild card, was defeated by Switzerland’s 149-ranked Stephane Bohli 6-2 6-3.

Meanwhile, Barry King has received his maiden call-up to Davis Cup action for Ireland’s first round clash with Turkey in Dublin.

The Dubliner will link up with Sorensen, Conor Niland and James McGee for the Europe-Africa Group Two indoor tie at the Fitzwilliam Club in March (5-7).

King (24) has received the nod from team boss Sean Sorensen ahead of Colin O’Brien, who seems to have paid the price for his decision not to compete in last month’s National Indoors Championships.
