Two men arrested as gardaí seize €233,000 worth of cannabis in Galway

€233,000 worth of suspected illegal cannabis was seized in Co Galway on August 15. 

Two men have been arrested after €233,000 worth of suspected illegal cannabis was seized in Co Galway. 

Gardaí attached to the Galway Divisional Drugs Unit conducted searches of two residences in Galway on Saturday.

During the course of the operation, gardaí conducted a search, under warrant, of a residence in Roscam. Cannabis herb with an approximate value of €122,000 was seized.

In a follow-up search under warrant of a residence in the Castlepark area, a further €111,000 of cannabis herb was seized.

Two men, one aged in his 40s and one in his 50,s were arrested in connection with the investigation. They are currently detained pursuant to section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug trafficking) Act 1996, at a Garda station in the North Western Region.

Gardaí said the seized substances will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.

The operation was part of ongoing investigations targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the region.
