Bjerregaard looks for glory on home turf with two-shot lead at Danish Open

Home hope Lucas Bjerregaard heads into the final round of the Danish Golf Championship with a two-shot lead after making 10 birdies across 28 holes on Saturday.

Dane Bjerregaard returned to the course early in the morning on day three to complete the final 10 holes of his second round after high winds had forced a suspension on Friday evening.

But he showed no signs of tiredness as he made five birdies on the back nine to hold a two-shot lead at the halfway stage.

And the two-time DP World Tour winner produced another back-nine birdie blitz in round three to get to 12 under par and lead by two from nearest challenger Romain Langasque.

Danish amateur Jacob Skov Olesen was alone in third another shot further back after the Amateur Championship winner carded a second successive bogey-free 66.

Bjerregaard said: "A bogey-free round is never bad. Especially with the finish we have out here. I'm very happy. I played solid.

"I had a bit of a stretch mid-round where I had some good up-and-downs to keep the round going, then I got on a bit of a birdie run at the start of the back nine, so that's nice."

Ireland's Tom McKibbin sits in a tie for 17th on -5 after he shot a third-round 67, matching his second-round tally.
