Gardaí remain at the scene of a serious incident in Limerick city.

Gardaí have been at the scene of what is understood to be a serious incident at a residence on Cecil Street.

The alleged incident occurred at the Carlton House apartment building, located across from the post office.

Gardaí have been at the scene since the early hours of this morning.

A garda van and a patrol car remain parked in front of the building, with gardaí stationed at the entrance to the residence.

It is understood gardaí are controlling who is entering the premises.

On the scene, an officer told the Irish Examiner that they cannot comment.
