Denmark’s Thomas Bjorn played his last 47 holes without a single bogey to win the Commercialbank Qatar Masters by four strokes today.

The former Ryder Cup star, 40 later this month, achieved his 11th European Tour victory with a closing three under par 69 and 14 under total of 274.

But it was not as easy as the scores might suggest. Spain’s Alvaro Quiros, winner in 2009 and runner-up last year, closed to one behind with a back nine charge before bogeying the 15th and 17th.

Bjorn had parred the first 14 holes, but birdied the next two to open the gap again and closed with another.

In the end Quiros needed to birdie the long last hole to take second place on his own.
