Kim grabs lead in Tokyo

South Korea’s Kim Kyung-tae shot a six-under-par 64 to open up a two-stroke lead heading into the final round of the season-ending Nippon Series JT Cup today.

Kim carded seven birdies whilst dropping just one shot at the Tokyo Yomiuri Country Club to move onto seven under overall.

Defending champion Jeev Milkha Singh of India climbed the leaderboard with a five under 65 and is in a share of second place alongside Toshinori Muto (66).

Overnight leader Shigeki Maruyama dropped to fourth at three under after shooting a 70.

Japan Tour money leader Ryo Ishikawa shot a 67 and is in a share of 22nd place following a disappointing first two rounds.

The 18-year-old is, however, all but guaranteed to become the first teenage money list winner on the Japan Tour with closest challenger Yuta Ikeda, who needed to win the event to overhaul Ishikawa, 12 shots off the pace following a 68.
