Casey expected to start

Paul Casey is set to tee off tomorrow in Minnesota at the US PGA Championship, his manager said tonight.

The world number three has been struggling with a strained intercostal muscle in his ribcage, and was forced to withdraw from last week’s WGC-Bridgestone Invitational after playing just six holes of his first round at Firestone Country Club last Thursday.

Casey, though, has been receiving treatment every day since and he played nine holes in a practice round at Hazeltine National today.

Guy Kinnings, his manager at IMG, said the Englishman would reassess his condition in the morning but the intention was that Casey would make his tee time at 7.45am local time (1.45pm Irish Time) on the 10th tee alongside American Nick Watney and Hiroyuki Fujita of Japan.
