Harrington breaks into top 10

China’s Lian Wen-chong is up 40 spots to 78th following his win at the Singapore Masters while Padraig Harrington also climbed a place.

The only change in the top 10 is that Harrington edges ahead of Luke Donald at 10th, while the failures of Lee Westwood and Darren Clarke even to make the cut in Singapore mean they remain outside the top 50 and are therefore not yet eligible for next week’s WGC event in Florida.

They have one more chance for that, however, as Westwood is competing this week at the TCL Classic in China and Clarke is playing in the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill.

Donald, Colin Montgomerie, Paul Casey and Justin Rose are also in the field there along with Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Greg Owen, who last year blew the title – and a Masters debut – by three-putting from three feet for double bogey on the 17th and bogeying the last.

Latest leading positions:

1 Tiger Woods 19.28pts, 2 Jim Furyk 8.54, 3 Phil Mickelson 7.68, 4 Adam Scott 6.91, 5 Henrik Stenson 6.70, 6 Ernie Els 6.65, 7 Geoff Ogilvy 5.68, 8 Retief Goosen 5.68, 9 Vijay Singh 5.30, 10 Padraig Harrington 5.20
