The chances of Darren Clarke playing in Ireland’s first staging of the Ryder Cup all but disappeared yesterday – but countryman Graeme McDowell could yet take his place.
Clarke revealed he is likely to be out of golf “for the foreseeable future” after this week’s British Open championship, despite an opening 69 at Hoylake.
