Monty wins monthly award

Colin Montgomerie has won the European Tour’s RBS Shot of the Month for September.

Montgomerie was awarded the prize for his eight-iron approach to the 17th green in the final round of the Dunhill Links Championship, where he beat Kenneth Ferrie by a shot.

Second was Retief Goosen’s nine-iron to the last as he won the German Masters and third Jose Maria Olazabal’s five-wood in his first round victory over David Howell at the HSBC World Match Play Championship.
