How Ryder contenders are faring

Brian Davis and Jean-Francois Remesy left Munich today with their Ryder Cup dream over.

Both missed the halfway cut in the BMW International Open by one shot, Davis after taking a bogey six on the final hole and Remesy when he failed to sink a five-foot eagle chance there.

Paul Casey, meanwhile, is virtually certain to earn a debut, but the sprint for the last three automatic places may end in a photo finish.

How Ryder Cup contenders are faring in the BMW International Open in Munich:

Currently in team PAUL CASEY (7th in table): 69-69 (-6). Ready to celebrate.

DAVID HOWELL (8th): 73-68 (-3). Came back well from three over, but heat still on.

IAN POULTER (9th): 73-66 (-5). Brilliant recovery, but can’t let up.

PAUL McGINLEY (10th): 70-68 (-6). Pressure-packed weekend ahead.

Chasing a place in team JEAN-FRANCOIS REMESY (needed minimum 7th place finish): 74-71 (+1). Out.

JOAKIM HAEGGMAN (needs min. 5th): 69-70 (-5). Kept hopes alive, but slipped outside top 20.

FREDRIK JACOBSON (needs min fifth): 71-65 (-8). Lying fourth and in contention for team or wild card.

BRIAN DAVIS (needed min fourth): 72-72 (+1). Out after closing bogey six.

RAPHAEL JACQUELIN (needs min second): 68-72 (-4). Has to climb over 20 places now.

GRAEME McDOWELL (needs win): 72-72 (L). Hopes hanging by a thread. Outside top 60.

Wild card favourites COLIN MONTGOMERIE: 67-70 (-7). Double bogey seven on card, but can still win.

LUKE DONALD: 68-71 (-5). Not as good as he wanted after start.

ALEX CEJKA: 68-70 (-6). Led at eight under, then slipped back.
