Ireland's McGrane takes lead in Majorca

Ireland's Damien McGrane set a new course record as he marched into the lead in the Turespana Majorca Classic at Pula Golf Club.

McGrane carded a six under par 64 to take a two-shot lead, in the process establishing the course record.

McGrane won the penultimate card at the qualifying school last year and needs a good finish here to avoid a repeat visit.

The 32-year-old from Co Wexford lies 142nd on the Order of Merit and needs to move into the top 115 to retain his card.

He made the perfect start with six birdies and an eagle, the latter coming when he holed an eight-iron from 147 yards on the 14th.
