Darren Clarke shot a three-under-par 67 to gain a comfortable win in the Chunichi Crowns in Japan.

The Ulsterman triumphed by four strokes from Keiichiro Fukabori and Shinichi Yokota.

Clarke becomes the first European player to win the event since Seve Ballesteros won 10 years ago.

Clarke, who held a one-shot lead overnight, finished on a 13-under-par 267.

"It's nice to come along and get my first win here. Hopefully there's many more to come," said Clarke.

"I've had a few chances before in Japan but I finished runner-up twice.

"I made a couple of mistakes on the back side, but I had a good drive on the 14th, and then I knocked in a crucial putt for birdie on the 15th. They were encouraging and kept me in the game."
