McIlroy versus Tiger the only show in town

Despite Rory McIlroy’s truism about this week’s major being an 80-man field, as far as the US golf media is concerned, the Masters is all about the Irishman’s impending battle for supremacy with a resurgent Tiger Woods.

“Can Tiger Take Down Rory McIlroy at Augusta?” asked Sports Illustrated Golf Plus magazine on its cover, leading readers inside to a contents page proclaiming the duel as “the only story in golf today” and pointing to a feature on the showdown headlined “Two Man Game”.

GolfWorld magazine, though, has taken that sentiment to its logical conclusion, mocking up for its cover a picture of McIlroy and Woods in boxing gear in the style of a heavyweight title fight.
