Clonakilty took a big step towards securing their place in the final of Division 1 of the McCarthy Insurance Group Cork Football League after they enjoyed a comprehensive win over St Finbarr’s in Clonakilty on Sunday.

This was a much-anticipated clash as both sides entered the game with perfect records, but the home side ran riot, winning by 3-22 to 0-6 against a Barrs side who were without the services of Steven Sherlock and Cillian Myers Murray. Darragh Gough, returning to action after being in with the Cork U20s, was the main man for the home side as he hit the Barrs for 2-4. Dara Ó Se kicked 0-5, Chris Kenneally hit 1-1 while David Lowney and Tom Clancy both clipped over 0-3. On a tough morning for the city side, Cian O’Sullivan and Thomas Egan both had a brace of points.
