DC1 Final: GS Uí Riordáin Ballincollig 3-2 Riverstown 0-3

A great day for GS Uí Riordáin Ballincollig in the Allianz Sciath na Scol Chorcaí DC1 final at Páirc Uí Rinn on Thursday. A clinical first half that yielded three well-taken goals, was the key to their success with superb blocking and hooking on both sides.

It didn’t take Emma Nic Ghiolla Phádraig long to get the ball rolling. Another goal goal followed from Emily Ní Laoire to set up a 2-1 to 0-1 advantage.

Ruby Allen’s second point from a placed ball kept a battling Riverstown in touch, When Róisín Ní Dhraighneáin netted before half-time, despite the best efforts of Ava Daly and her defensive colleagues, GS Uí Riordáin went 3-1 to 0-2 up.

The second was far more competitive with Allen and Ní Dhraighneáin exchanging white flags.

DH1 Final: GS Uí Riordáin Ballincollig 2-7 Belgooly 3-3

A magnificent come-from-behind DH1 single point victory for GS Uí Riordáin, and double delight for Ballincollig.

This was thriller from start to finish, and a heart-breaking result for Belgooly who contributed to a wonderful spectacle.

A battle royale throughout, illuminated by a pair of green flags from Liam Ó hEarchaí. That brace minutes before the interval were important scores as they brought his side to the fore, 2-6 to 2-2 at the short whistle - Seán Sheehan and Jack Chambers the goal-getters for Belgooly.

Urban DC1 Final: Star of the Sea Passage 3-0 Monkstown 1-1

These neighbouring teams really clicked into gear in an exciting second half of the Urban DC1 final.

Two goals from inside forward Rebecca Walsh following outstanding outfield work on both occasions by Ava Barry were the scores that finally broke the Monkstown spirit in the final 10 minutes.

A point from the hard-working Maggie Murphy got Monkstown off to the perfect start but the response was impressive from Star of the Sea when four minutes later Sarah Hendrick goaled.

Just a minute later Grace Murray netted, set up by Murphy, to regain the lead for Monkstown.

Star of the Sea found another gear with those two late defining goals from Walsh.

Scorers for Star of the Sea: R Walsh (2-0), S Hendrick (1-0).

Urban DH1 Final: GS an Teaghlaigh Naofa Ballyphehane 2-8 Star of the Sea Passage 3-1

GS an Teaghlaigh Naofa Ballyphehane survived in a ferocious contest to take the spoils in the Urban DH1 decider, with only four points separating the teams at the end of a fascinating duel. They pulled away at various stages only to be pegged back by a well-drilled Star of the Sea for whom Tiarnan McCarthy bagged all of their scores - son of Cian and grandson of the late great Teddy - his side just came up short.

Back to GS an Teaghlaigh Naofa Ballyphehane, they took a slender one-point lead at the change of ends, 0-4 to 1-0.

A goal by Luke Ó Mathúna early in the second half pushed them further into the ascendancy, only for McCarthy to cut the deficit once more.

With the game in the melting pot, the pressure was eased by Adam Ó Conchúir when he was at the end of a move, 2-8 to 2-1.

Star of the Sea fought to the bitter end, and after trojan work by his teammates, McCarthy fired his third goal from a free in the final minute.

Scorers for GS an Teaghlaigh Naofa: L Ó Mathúna (1-2, 0-2 frees), D Óg Ó Tuama (0-4, 0-2 frees), A Ó Conchúir (1-0), Z Ó Dualáin and J Ó Laocha (0-1 each).
