Cork manager Jimmy Barry-Murphy says the news is not good for Donal Óg Cusack after he was stretchered off during this afternoon's Allianz NHL Division 1 semi-final win over Tipperary.

Goalkeeper Cusack was substituted in the 17th minute of the first half after going up awkwardly for a high ball. It subsequently emerged that he had suffered an Achilles tendon injury.

Barry-Murphy stated that it looks like his captain will play no role in the 2012 Munster and All-Ireland Championships.

"It doesn't look good, it looks like he is gone for the summer," admitted Barry-Murphy after today's game in Thurles.

"Dr. Con (Murphy) just told me there that he is gone to Dublin and that looks like an Achilles tendon problem.

"For the team it's very disappointing and it's shattering for himself. I am very disappointed for him.

"He has been a great captain for us and a great leader in the dressing room. It's very, very disappointing that way."

Tipperary manager Declan Ryan also hoped that Cusack makes a full recovery.

"It was disappointing to see Donal Óg (injured)," he said. "I don't think the news is too good and that is pretty disappointing to any player.

"He is such an important player to Cork's style of play and it is very disappointing."
