All services remain suspended between Thurles-Limerick Junction in both directions until further notice due to a tragic incident on the line this morning.

Iarnród Éireann said just after 8am this morning that all services were suspended between Thurles and Limerick Junction, the route the Cork Kent to Dublin Heuston line travels, until further notice due to “a serious incident being attended by emergency services”.

They have shared multiple updates since, saying that services remain suspended during the two stations due to “a tragic incident on the line”, and will be until further notice.

Just before 10am, the rail company said that bus transfers have been arranged between Thurles and Limerick Junction, which will allow travel between Cork and Dublin to resume.

A spokesperson from Irish Rail confirmed that all services between Dublin and Cork, Kerry and Limerick were affected and said that the line is expected to remain closed for a number of hours.

“We apologise to customers for the inconvenience caused and thank them for their patience and understanding in these very sad circumstances.”
