Brogan back for Dubs

Dublin ace Alan Brogan is hopeful that he can play some part in next Sunday's Leinster SFC quarter-final against Wexford, after making a full return to training on Thursday night.

Brogan was ruled out for almost two months due to hamstring problems, but the Sure for Men ambassador believes he has now overcome his recent hand and hamstring injuries.

"I've had a tricky enough couple of months with injuries. I trained on Thursday night fully for the first time," he said.

"Over the course of the weekend it will tell a lot. I suppose it is 'fingers crossed' stuff at this stage that I can stay injury free for the next week or so.

"Hopefully I'll get a period of training under my belt so I can push on into the summer.

"It has been frustrating over the last couple of weeks and months, but hopefully I'm coming out the far end of it now."

Brogan has been absent from Dublin training sessions for six weeks, and says that he has noticed a marked increase in intensity on his return.

"The guys are coming in to peak time of the year now, and they are obviously flying. The intensity is high in training and I haven't been around for five or six weeks now.

"It was nice to get back training on Thursday night, and good to get out running again in a match situation."

The St. Oliver Plunkett's/Eoghan Ruadh clubman says fitness should not be a problem for him, as he has kept his training going despite being away from the Dublin set-up.

"I have been training away, so I wouldn't be overly worried about myself fitness wise," he admitted.

"It's more just about handling the football and execution of skills, that sort of stuff I might be a little bit rusty on, but I have some time to work on that so I wouldn't be overly worried about it.

"Injuries for some guys give opportunities to other guys, that's what happened.

"Guys got injured and new guys came in, and they have staked starting place claims. For the overall squad that can only be a good thing."
