IRFU and FAI tightlipped on news of Croker talks

BOTH the IRFU and the FAI remained tightlipped on the significance of yesterday's news that Rule 42 and the possible opening of Croke Park to soccer and rugby will definitely be discussed at the GAA's upcoming Annual Congress.

Lansdowne Road is due to be closed from the end of next year until some time in 2008 to undergo a major facelift, which will leave Irish soccer and rugby international teams without a home venue during that period.

Should Croke Park not be made available by the GAA then both teams would have to play their home matches in a venue in Britain.
