Marco can book Derby place
After a modest break in last weekend’s semi-final, Paul Hennessy’s dog struggled to find a clear passage and had to settle for third place behind Castlelyons Ralf.
Better drawn tonight, the experienced tracker should be on the speed from the outset and his superior finishing pace can carry him to victory. The improving Newlawn Tock looks to have a potentially tricky draw but he’s classy and can chase the selection home.
The Getting Out Stakes may also go to the Gowran kennels of Paul Hennessy, courtesy of Priceless Chef.
Kathleen Murphy’s dog ran a huge race when just failing to get reel-in longtime leader Touch Of State at Shelbourne Park last time out.
He looks very well drawn outside the slow-starting Ballyhooly Queen and, off a decent break, should prove too good for tonight’s opposition.
Michael Hallahan’s experienced campaigner Forest Power looks the one to beat in the opening heat of the first round of the Kasko A3. A dog with fine early pace, he should have the speed to hold his position on the run-up and can steal a winning advantage around the opening bends.
Youngster Soho Storm and Curragh Jamie are both lightly-raced dogs of potential and rate the dangers.
Kieran Lynch could be set for a Kasko double with Spur Magpie, in heat three, and Rocky Bay Black, in heat six.
Spur Magpie ran a big race when second behind Fear Gorm in the final of the Red Mills All-Ireland Series Trial Stake last weekend but he looks booked for compensation from an ideal draw tonight. He possesses fine foot to the turn and it should be a case of ‘catch me if you can’ for his rivals. Promising youngster Blue Jet Sky should be finishing fast and can give him most to do.
Rocky Bay Black missed the kick at Youghal on Monday but, better drawn in tonight’s sixth heat, he can dominate from the outset. Father and son, Compass Smash and Lobors Pal, line up in opposition but both may struggle to get on terms with the selection.
