Croker may host Dunne title bid
“But, let’s face it, a world title fight is a long way down the road yet,” he said. “I know the fact that Bernard, as an amateur, beat the new IBF world super-bantamweight champion Steve Molitor makes it inviting but we are not going to rush anything.
“Everything we have done to date has been to a plan and everything has gone according to that plan. In the same way we will be looking at a world title shot down the road and when that comes yes, we will obviously be looking at Croke Park as a possible venue.
“However the immediate plan is to mop up Europe. As I said, there are a lot of good fighters out there including Michael Hunter.
Top trainer Brendan Ingle has backed Dunne to go on and become a world champion. Ingle, who trains Pickering, said: “This guy has everything it takes to become a world champion.
“That was a very classy performance from Bernard and I hope he goes on to become a world champion and who knows maybe he’ll give Esham a re-match.
“In the later rounds I could see that as Esham was trying to come on Bernard was tying him up at times and messing him around and then having a realgo near the end of the round and you need that at the highest level, that’s smart.”
