It won’t be long until we all have to listen to “football’s coming home” when Thomas Tuchel's Three Lions begin to gather momentum at the World Cup, and the thought of that trophy actually landing in London will have some Irish fans cheering and rooting for their opposition, even if that is a French side that once included Thierry Henry.

Some things slip from the mind faster than others, but while there is no tune for the British racing fans to sing, one gets the feeling they could be writing one to go with their belief that they are ready for the Irish next month.
