Christy O'Connor: Cork delighted to have reeled Limerick in again – but should Treaty still be happier?

The lack of a traffic management plan in Mallow for Saturday's Harty Cup final did a disservice to the game.

All evening, John Kiely had been on edge. From the start of the match, the Limerick manager was clearly pumped up, getting booked on 20 minutes after protesting too much over a decision. That still didn’t calm Kiely down, especially late on when the Cork sideline was highly charged as well.

Kiely had a right to be furious afterwards. Limerick should have closed out the game. The late free awarded to Brian Roche after a foul by Colin Coughlin was extremely soft in comparison to some of the indiscretions Seán Stack let go earlier in the match. Darragh Fitzgibbon’s subsequent equalising free was scored over two minutes past the allotted amount of additional time.
