Beautiful chaos in Cork

The Neptune-Demons rivalry is peerless in Irish basketball, and it delivered yet again on Saturday evening in a 102-96 overtime classic. Both teams were in desperate need of a league win having under performed so far this season and we were treated to a chaotic and entertaining game that probably is as good an advertisement for what Irish basketball that anyone could hope for. The quality wasn’t always great but big personalities delivered throughout and there was a healthy dose of infuriating refereeing (78 total free throws) all in front of a packed house. It’s the sort of game that you’d wish TG4 could show to the wider sports world in Ireland, or at least not have it behind a paywall and have as many people see into this entertaining world we have.
